We took many road trips that first few years and traveled the country looking for individual horses that fit our goal for the future in developing the Sundance LB look that we have become known for.  In 1989, Steve was corresponding with Audrey Barrett after seeing a write up in The Pony Journal in regards to her Arenosa Pony Farm breeding program. In August of 1989, Steve took off with his pickup and trailer and drove over 2500 miles from Oregon to Victoria Texas, bringing back 10 head of Audrey’s horses. This initial seed start has blossomed into what we now call the Sundance LB Arenosa group.  After much confusion with what designated a 100% straight Arenosa we use these three criteria:                                                

 

1. The horse traces to horses Audrey Barrett used in her breeding program.

2. The horse was owned by Audrey Barrett.

3. The horse was bred by Audrey Barrett.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

After many years we recently started using the SA designation at the end of their name so that these horses are easily recognized as straight Arenosa even though they are generations from the original horses. In the same manner we use the ST designation on horses we have bred that trace back to the Seth Thomas line of horses.                                                            

For over 30 year's Sundance LB’s goal has been to breed quality ASPC/AMHR horses that have the best conformation whether it be Arenosa, Seth Thomas or Appaloosas. We take great pride in knowing that in an ever - changing world there will never be a substitute for quality. We truly appreciate the fact that top breeders, trainers, handlers and transporters have all admired our herd with numerous positive comments and referrals.
