Argentine Llama Legacy

Over the past several decades, a distinct type of llama has emerged from the highlands of Argentina—recognized for its strength, bone, fiber quality, and overall presence.

  • These llamas were developed over centuries in rugged environments, where natural selection and careful breeding created animals with heavy structure, dense wool, and exceptional durability.

    Through extensive searching and selective import efforts, only the highest-quality individuals were chosen to influence breeding programs in the United States. Each animal was selected for conformation, temperament, and overall balance—ensuring consistency and long-term value in the bloodline.

    Today, Argentine-type llamas are known for their calm disposition, intelligence, strong bone, and fine fiber. Their influence continues to grow, bringing a unique combination of durability, beauty, and performance to modern breeding programs.

About Our Llama Program

Llamas have been part of Steve’s life since the early 1970s—even bringing one to Portland State University for a classroom presentation. Larry the llama quietly “cushed” beside him as he introduced others to these incredible animals.

Over the years, llamas have given us countless memories—and we truly can’t imagine life without them.

Our breeding program has always been guided by bloodlines. At one time, we maintained straight Bolivian, Chilean, Argentine, and North American lines. While truly pure animals are becoming rarer, our focus remains on preserving those foundational genetics while thoughtfully blending lines to strengthen the overall quality and long-term viability of the herd.

Llamas will always have a special place in our lives, and we hope you’ll take the time to experience these intelligent, gentle animals for yourself.
